"If only you had been born 10 years ago...!"
That's what DJ Ino, a prominent DJ of the last generation of the House Café team, told Jake Jack one day. Jake got in an old cabin of a bar, who's name he can't even remember, in 2001. The Dj there was a friend of his, and he asked him to cover him putting music while he was gone. There were some compilations, the classic ones with 4 cd's with 4 different styles. When he put the first House CD, there was no other style he could mix. His nights had no sense anymore. Destiny, maybe. Some months later and without knowing what was about to happen, Jake went to a well-known club in the outskirts or A Coruña city. It was a club just like any other: full of people, popular music, too popular...There was a moment where Jake found himself alone, he went to the back of the club where there was a non-stopping "beat" comming down the stairs. That beat had nothing to to with the music below. "Going up those stairs has been one of the most unforgettable moments of my life". At the end of those stairs there was a thick curtain that separated the different sounds of the two different floors. When he opened the curtain, he fell in love. He didn't know who those people were. He didn't recognise the sound he heard, neither did he recognise the people who were dancing there and he didn't know why everybody payed attention to who was playing the music. That was House Café. Those people were Ino, Grobas, Xan Barral, Diego Santos, Cuco...and the audience there seemed like they had just landed from New York City.
That music was the most profound music he had ever heard before.
Jake bought himself some turntables, some vinyls and spent long hours in his garage. He mantained his inquietudes to himself until he was sure to have the level of the House Cafe artists. What he had clear was that that was he's dream. He made he's way among his people, creating his fame as a Dj, but he realised he had to reach de Cafe environment. Alhough he installed himself in Barcelona, he contacted Ino when he showed up in a session of The Pimpmasters en Lekasbah (a club in Barceloona). There he met Steven Garcia and, that was the turning point and the push jake needed to make a change. Funck you very much (“The CD”) made him understand from a different point of view everything about the dancefloor. From there on, the adventure began. In January 2007, he made his first session in Telefunken and Global Club. Cuco, head person of the great club in Coruña, fell in love with him. Jake travelled sporadically from Barcelona to put Cd's in his hometown. In his third visit, Cuco invited him to join the Global Club family and thats when the working hours behind the turntables started. Every week jake mix in Global Club; once a month he was invited to Telefunken. In summer 2007 Telefunken made him part of their family, becomming one of the 5 resident dj's in the most emblematic club of the city, the same club that say him grow when he was under the shadow. Then the miles away from home started and his friends from Justified let him start in La Macarena (Barcelona). He could also show his music charisma in Baiona and Ponferrada, as well as in the new clubs in A Coruña like Fanzine o La Calita. After his visit to the Sala Victoria in Palma de Mallorca, jake came back installing himself in A Coruña. That's when the new and abitious project of his "brother" Cuco started: Super Club. A new duo that rose nearly everybody in Coruña late at night was born. Cuco&Jake were added to the duo of DJs who have come to the Hall of Fame: Ino&Grobas, The Sugar Co...
The next step was creating the music. GarcyNoise, from Justified Cause, was who let him make his first remix, Me and my old rhodes, for the record Dubhe Recs. Global Club and Telefunken closed their doors between 2009 and 2010. Jake moved again to Barcelona, not without having made the most of his time. After obtaining some general understanding of music with the pianist Sergio Delgado, and having internalised the vision of the music world of his musical godfather, Ino, Jake will accomplish one of his most important dreams since he crossed that curtain 10 years ago. In March 2011, Casanova (EP) will be released, the first one of Jake Jack for House Café Music. In fact, Jake kills two birds with one stone, because the release includes a remix with another one of his idols, Seph (Dreamers Dub) of the Funky Soul Rebels in New York. Jake's next big dream is to mix like a Funky Soul Rebel, in the city where his journey began.
Jake is possibly one of those djs that having born 10 years earlier would have enjoyed the most the 90's decade and we are sure that that decade would have echoed a rough diamond like Jake Jack.
